GUEST SPEAKERS

Headline Speaker - Andrew Cartmel
Say hello to welcome Andrew Cartmel as our headline speaker.
Andrew, as well as being a hi-fi and vinyl enthusiast, who writes extensively about jazz for the website London Jazz News, is a novelist, comics writer and screenwriter. He was script editor for Dr Who for three years and co-wrote the Rivers of London graphic novels and plays with Ben Aaronovitch. But his primary focus is his series of crime novels about the Vinyl Detective, a jazz-loving record collector turned sleuth. The eighth novel in the series has just been published, which takes his detective into the world of Italian film soundtrack music in swinging London.

Expect laughs and Andrew's views on all things vinyl and hi-fi.

Peter Aylett is a well-known face at the Clarity conference. As the working group chair, he has been instrumental in the creation of Cedia's RP-22 Immersive Audio Design Recommended Practice document.
Peter will give an overview of this and the other Recommended Practice programmes coming soon from Cedia.

We welcome Max Templeman, client insight director, and Edward Jackson, audio manager, from GfK to the conference once again to bring us up to speed with the trends in audio. GfK’s data, gathered from actual sales, provides an invaluable insight for both retailers and manufacturers and is always one of the highlights of the afternoon.

Josh Brickman is partnerships manager for our preferred supplier of credit card processing services, Blink.
He will take us through the benefits of using the Blink payments platform, highlighting the substantial savings that are possible for your business if you switch to its services.

Sustainable Retailing
Dacombes of Wimborne has taken big steps to make its retail business sustainable. Hear from owner Matt Renaut about the process, how it is saving them large sums of money and how it could potentially help your business in the face of ever increasing energy costs.

We are pleased to welcome, for the first time to the Clarity Conference, Futuresource.
Guy Hammett, head of home audio, will be guiding us through the latest research into the home audio market, including extracts from the new global loudspeaker market report published just a few days ago - potentially touching on the touchy subject of trade tariffs.

Clarity training and benefits
T21 Group is the leading training provider for the hi-fi industry. Having run very successful courses for Clarity and many retailers and major manufacturers, Paul Laville is the go-to man for specialist industry training. As a board member of Clarity, Paul is heading up our focus on training and will share the direction that future Clarity training will take and also guide you through the benefits of being a Clarity trade association member.

Panel Discussion
Sean Hannam is an award-winning technology, retail and music journalist, former editor of ERT and friend of Clarity.
We're delighted that Sean will be hosting a panel and audience discussion during the afternoon focusing on some very pertinent questions, such as:
"Where do we see the hi-fi industry going?"
"What are the challenges we face?"
"What do we need to do to adapt?"
"How can we reach consumers who are happy with low-resolution music?"
